About

MUONG

The Muong come from the same historical roots as the Vietnamese and although they speak a different language, the two languages do share some similarities. They worship numerous spirits including the spirits of their ancestors and local heroes, as well as the spirit of the village and the land. Pray that they will come to know the Most High God who created them and loves them deeply.

PRAY FOR THE MUONG

Use the requests and Scriptures below to guide your prayers for the Muong over the next week.

^
MONDAY

Ask God to begin a mighty work among the more than 1 million Muong of northern Vietnam. Ask Him to break down all the barriers that are keeping them from coming to Christ.

Sovereign Lord, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for You. You show love to thousands. O great and powerful God, whose name is the Lord Almighty, great are Your purposes for the Muong and mighty are Your deeds. Your eyes are open to all the ways of the Muong. (Jeremiah 32:17-19)

^
TUESDAY

The Jesus Film and other gospel recordings are available in the Muong language. Pray that these resources will be effective evangelistic tools to reach the Muong.

Lord, You sent Jesus as a witness to testify concerning the light, so that the Muong might believe in it, adhere to it, trust it, and rely upon it through Him. This light is a revelation to the Muong declaring: You are light and in You there is no darkness at all. (John 1: 7 AMP; Luke 2:32; 1 John 1:5)

^
WEDNESDAY

Pray for the 200+ Muong Christians today. Pray that they will grow daily in their faith and that God will open doors for them to share their faith with family and friends.

May the Muong praise You, O God. May all the Muong praise You. May the Muong be glad and sing for joy, for You rule and guide them justly. May the Muong praise You. (Psalm 67:3-5)

^
THURSDAY

Ask God to call out laborers to help implement a strategy to reach the Muong with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Father, I ask that You would open the eyes of the Muong and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to You, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified. (Acts 26:18)

^
FRIDAY

Ask God to call out national church planters who have a burden for reaching the Muong. Pray that every Muong will have an opportunity to hear of God’s love for them.

I pray the Muong will be full of the knowledge of You, Lord, as the waters cover the sea. Let Your kingdom come to the Muong. Let Your will be done in the hearts of the Muong. (Isaiah 11:9; Matthew 6:10)

^
SATURDAY

Pray that there will soon be a thriving church in every Muong village in northern Vietnam. Pray that God will raise up leaders among the Muong Christians.

May the Muong turn to You, Lord, and be saved for You are God, and there is no other. You have sworn by Yourself, the word is gone out of Your mouth in righteousness and will not turn back. O Lord, may every knee of the Muong bow and every tongue of the Muong give praise to You and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. (Isaiah 45:22-23 NAS; Romans 10:9)

^
SUNDAY

Continue to pray for the persecuted church in Vietnam—particularly for the Muong believers. Many Christians face losing their jobs and even their homes because of their faith in Christ. Ask God to strengthen their faith and to use this difficult situation for His glory and honor.

I pray the Muong will fear Your name, Lord, and that all the kings of the earth will revere Your glory. (Psalm 102:15)
