San Diu

The San Diu migrated to northern Vietnam from southern China in the late 1600s and are currently living in seven different provinces. They gather water daily from streams rather than digging wells because they believe that spirits live in the earth and if they dig a well they will hit the veins of a dragon. They live in constant fear of offending the spirits that they worship. Please pray that the San Diu will come to know the Prince of Peace who loves them deeply.

Pray for the San Diu

Use the requests, prayers, and Scripture below to guide your prayers for the San Diu over the next week.

Monday

Please pray for the San Diu Christians to have opportunities to meet together with other Christians and to grow in their faith. Ask God to open doors for them to share the Gospel with their families and friends. Pray that whole families and villages will come to faith.

Father, I pray that the San Diu will come to know the truth of the Gospel and the truth will make them free. (John 8:32)

Tuesday

Currently there are no Christian materials in the San Diu language. Pray that evangelistic materials will be developed. In the meantime, ask God to give the San Diu understanding of the Gospel in simple Vietnamese.

Father, I declare Your glory among the San Diu, Your marvelous deeds among all peoples. For You are great and most worthy of praise. You are to be feared above all gods. For You, O Lord, are the Most High over all the San Diu. You are exalted far above all gods. (Psalms 96:3-4; 97:9)

Wednesday

Ask God to send Christians from other tribal groups to share the Gospel with the San Diu.

You, Lord, have chosen the San Diu. They are a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to You, God. I pray the San Diu will declare praises to You who called them out of darkness into Your wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)

Thursday

Pray that "people of peace" who are open to the Good News of Jesus Christ will be located in each San Diu village. Ask God to send messengers to these people of peace.

Lord, may the San Diu walk in the light of the Lord. May they come to know Jesus as the light of the world, for whoever follows Him will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. (Isaiah 2:5; John 8:12)

Friday

Ask God to call out national church planters who have a burden for planting churches among the San Diu. Pray that there will soon be a church in every San Diu village.

Lord, You revealed Yourself to those who did not ask for You and You were found by those who did not seek You. To the San Diu people that did not call on Your name, You said, “Here am I, here am I.” (Isaiah 65:1)

Saturday

Pray that God will raise up leaders among the San Diu believers. Pray that they will have opportunities to participate in training with other Christians so they will be strengthened and encouraged in their faith.

I pray the San Diu will be full of the knowledge of You, Lord, as the waters cover the sea. Let Your kingdom come to the San Diu. Let Your will be done in the hearts of the San Diu. (Isaiah 11:9; Matthew 6:10)

Sunday

Persecution continues for the Christians of northern Vietnam. Please continue to pray for strength, comfort and courage for these Christians who daily face persecution because of their faith.

Father, I come boldly and with confidence before Your throne of grace today to stand in the gap for the persecuted Christians of northern Vietnam. Lord, you have posted me as a watchman on the walls for them. I will never be silent, day or night. I will call on You, Lord, and give You no rest till You establish them and make them the praise of the earth." (Hebrews 4:16; Ezekiel 22:30; Isaiah 62:6,7)
