Tithing for the Task
The fellowships on the lake have been tithing for over four years. They have a bank account and have been able to purchase land with the tithe. Every Sunday afternoon the believers visit homes in their community and in other villages. Of course, there are costs to these visits. Fuel and food have to be purchased. Often, the believers go hungry as they visit.
One Sunday, the teacher commended them for obeying God in this mission work; they’ve faithfully been going and sharing. He also taught that the church that gives to missions is blessed. The believers decided it was time to set aside a portion of their tithe for this task. After praying, they decided to set aside 30% of the tithe for the continuation of this important mission work. They look forward to seeing how God will bless this act of faithful obedience.
2 Corinthians 8:2-3 “How while they were undergoing every sort of trouble, and were in the greatest need, they took all the greater joy in being able to give freely to the needs of others. For I give them witness, that as they were able, and even more than they were able they gave from the impulse of their hearts.”
Lord, we pray that you will bless your children who cry out to you for their sustenance. We praise you for their generous and obedient hearts. May they see your goodness and power to reach those in need around them; those who need your life-giving salvation and redemption from bondage to the evil one. May these brothers and sisters continue to experience joy in you.
