Unengaged, Unreached: The Phula of Vietnam

In every Phula home, a central room is dedicated to the worship of ancestors. The room contains an altar and a spirit door where the Phula people pray and give regular offerings to the spirits of the dead.

Of 11,000 Phula in Vietnam, there are fewer than 40 known believers.

The Phula people are farmers who make an average of $70 per month. They are animists, worshiping many gods and spirits, including their ancestors. Currently the Phula have no Christian materials in their heart language, Phula.

The Phula people have yet to be engaged with the gospel. That means that currently no one is working to take the good news of Jesus Christ to the Phula people.

Will you pray for the Phula people of Vietnam?

  • Ask God to send out laborers among the Phula so that all the Phula will have an opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ.
  • Ask God to strengthen the few Phula believers. Pray that they will be bold in sharing their faith and that their family and friends will be open to the Gospel.
  • Ask God to protect the Phula believers as they meet together to worship Him. Pray that they will walk closely with the Lord and that their lives will reflect Jesus Christ.
  • Ask God to raise up a Phula church planter among Phula believers. Pray that he will be burdened to see the gospel spread among the Phula in Vietnam.
